Sunlust Tours – Terms & Conditions

Tour Operator License No. TO/AA/14/001/25 (issued by Ministry of Ethiopian Tourism Authority)

 

1. Definitions

“We/Us/Our” – Sunlust Tours PLC and its authorised agents.

“You/Your” – The person(s) booking or traveling.

“Package” – Any of the six named tours (Summer Holiday, Winter Holiday, Christmas Holiday, Coffee Tour, Customs & Rituals, Surma & East Omo) or any custom itinerary.

“Force Majeure” – War, civil unrest, natural disaster, volcanic/seismic activity, epidemic, government travel ban, airline collapse, or any event beyond our control.

 

2. Booking & Contract

2.1 A binding contract is formed when we issue a Confirmation Invoice after receipt of the 30% non-refundable deposit.

2.2 You confirm that all travelers are medically fit and possess valid passports (minimum 6 months validity) and visas.

2.3 Minimum age: 12 years for remote Omo packages; 5 years for all others (child rates apply 5–11).

2.4 Group size: 2–12 persons standard; solo travelers pay single supplement or are paired.

 

3. Pricing & Payment

3.1 Prices are quoted in USD and include:

 English-speaking guide, 4×4 transport, domestic flights (where stated), 3–4★ accommodation (twin-share), most meals, entry fees, bottled water, community fees.

3.2 Excluded: International flights, visa fees, travel insurance, tips ($8–12/day pp recommended), alcohol, laundry, items of personal nature.

3.3 Balance due 45 days before departure. Late payment may result in cancellation without refund.

3.4 Currency fluctuations: Prices fixed in USD; no surcharge after full payment.

3.5 Child discount: 25% (5–11 yrs); infants free (no seat/bed).

 

 

4. Cancellation by You

Date changes free up to 60 days; thereafter treated as cancellation.

 

5. Cancellation or Changes by Us

5.1 We reserve the right to cancel or modify itineraries due to Force Majeure, minimum numbers (2 pax), or safety.

5.2 If we cancel before departure: full refund or free transfer to another date/package.

5.3 If we cancel after departure: pro-rata refund for unused services; no compensation for travel costs.

5.4 Route changes (e.g., avoiding Amhara/Tigray conflict zones or Afar seismic activity) do not entitle refund if core experiences are delivered.

 

6. Travel Insurance (MANDATORY)

6.1 You must purchase comprehensive insurance covering:

 

Trip cancellation/interruption

Medical evacuation (minimum $100,000)

Personal accident & baggage

6.2 Proof required 30 days before departure. Failure voids the booking.

 

 

7. Passports, Visas & Health

7.1 eVisa (evisa.gov.et) is your responsibility. We provide invitation letters for confirmed bookings.

7.2 Yellow Fever certificate required if arriving from endemic countries.

7.3 Malaria prophylaxis essential for Omo/Kaffa; we supply mosquito nets and repellent.

7.4 Altitude: Addis (2,355 m), Simien (up to 4,620 m). Consult physician for pre-existing conditions.

 

8. Liability & Risk

8.1 Ethiopia is an adventure destination. You accept risks associated with rugged terrain, high altitude, remote areas, wildlife, and variable road conditions.

8.2 We are not liable for:

 

Loss/damage to baggage (max liability $200 pp)

Injury/death due to your negligence or non-compliance with guide instructions

Delays/costs from airline schedule changes

8.3 Local laws apply: Drone use requires prior permit; photography of military/police prohibited.

 

 

9. Behaviour & Cultural Respect

9.1 Modest dress in religious sites (shoulders/knees covered).

9.2 Tribal areas (Omo/Surma):

 

Photography only with verbal consent and guide facilitation (payment $1–2 pp customary).

No gifts of candy/plastics; we distribute school supplies via community fund.

9.3 Drunkenness, drug use, or disruptive behaviour r may result in immediate tour termination without refund.

 

 

10. Complaints

10.1 Report issues on-site to your guide for immediate resolution.

10.2 Formal complaints in writing within 14 days of tour end to claims@sunlusttours.com.

10.3 Ethiopian law governs; disputes resolved in Addis Ababa courts.

 

11. Sustainability & Community

11.1 5% of profits fund Kaffa reforestation and Omo Valley school projects.

11.2 We use biodegradable packaging, solar lodges, and local suppliers (80% Ethiopian-owned).

 

12. Data Protection

We comply with EU GDPR and Ethiopian Data Protection Proclamation No. 1169/2019. Your data is used solely for bookings and emergency contact.

 

13. Acceptance

By paying the deposit, you accept these Terms on behalf of all travellers. A signed copy is required 45 days before departure.
